Ashtanga Yoga is not a physical practice. It is a philosophy of being, teaching us how to move past physical, emotional and mental limitations. It is a process of letting go and breaking patterns through vinyasa (free breathing with movement), bundha and drishti (meaning ‘to see’ or gaze point). The practice purifies, strengthens, energises and brings focus to the mind and body.
What you will learn
• The background and fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Jois.
• Surya Namaskar which introduces vinyasa, the initial poses of the primary series which are designed to cleanse and detoxify the body.
At the end of the course you will feel comfortable to be able to continue the practice and develop until the next time I visit or you have an opportunity to continue study.
